Sometimes what we need are some fun craft ideas to fill up a portion of the day at home. Here are some simple crafts that you can try with your learners.
Here's a really fun happy craft that will make everyone feel loved! Create 3D hearts and combine them to make garland, wall art, mobiles, etc.! Run time is just 1:43 minutes, but it will take you around 20 - 30 minutes to complete this from start to finish.

There's nothing like the sound of a neat wind chime in the spring and summer breeze! Here's a really cool one that you can try. I also saw one that used brightly painted driftwood instead of keys, for a more earthy tone. Collect what you need on a walk and then do a craft when you get back home! Thanks to InnerChildFun for their great craft idea!

Squishy Bags (from Learning 4 Kids) is a really cool, reusable idea for sensory input while practicing writing letters, numbers, shapes.. or even drawing simple images! The best part is once you're done, you just flatten out the bag and start again! This website recommends using a Q-tip to draw on the bag, but there's no reason you can't have your learner use their finger for that sensory input.

Here's a fun little craft that you can do with those old toilet paper or paper towel rolls! Create your own fireworks artwork to hang on the wall. Also included in this link is a great story to go along with the craft called "The Night Before New Years". Thanks to Learning4Kids for this great activity. |

Here are some fun, easy and creative art projects to try at home. With some hand over hand guidance, you'll be creating a masterpiece in no time! This video is split into 2 main parts. The first half are paint projects and the second part is how to make drawings out of hand shapes. Feel free to preview it and work to your heart's content on whichever one(s) call to you! |

This whole video is fun, but I really love the three color matching crafts/games that this tutorial shows you how to easily make. They start at 1:39 mins in and go until just about the 3 minute mark. So I encourage you to try those out for some fun, hands on, manipulative math crafts! Once these are made, you can use them over and over again for color matching. If you don't have the materials, you can just improvise by coloring white paper and using that instead (for the color popsicle). |
